Getting ready for autumn knitting

autumn knits

I’ve spent all summer feeling guilty about stocking up on worsted/aran weight wools but now is the time to put everything to good use. There’s a slight chill in the air as the sun goes down and the leaves are changing just around the edges, almost like they’re not sure if it’s time yet. Although various sources are saying the UK might perk up come next week with some warm and dry days, for now I’m relishing the fact I bought a couple new winter jumpers at the weekend.

And of course I’ve been trawling through Ravelry finding all the deliciously autumnal things to knit.

The yarn in my photo is the lovely Jamieson’s Shetland Heather that I recently bought to start the Baa-ble Hat with. I didn’t have anything in my stash in those kind of colours. However the other four knits look like promising stashbusters; especially the lambing mitts which I’m planning to use my lush alpaca yarn for.

And I may have picked out a pattern to knit Cooper a little jumper. Don’t look at me like that. It’s totally normal for me to want to knit a dog jumper. Right? Right?
