Despite having been twice before with friends, I always promised my brother that I’d go with him to the Harry Potter studio tour in Leavesden. Being the Christmas holidays, tickets were well and truly booked up for all the days but then my brother refreshed the page and suddenly two tickets appeared for sale and he made a quick purchase.
The first time I visited was magical for me. I was just so in awe of everything on display and I thought my heart was going to explode with nerd joy at every turn. I cried. Maybe three times! Hey I couldn’t help it, ok? I am a Harry Potter super-geek! The second time was just as interesting as I caught a couple of things I missed the first time round. I still cried.
I thought this third time would be a little less magical, for me at least. But once we arrived I discovered that it was still Christmas at Hogwarts and I think it made the whole experience just as fantastic as my first time. Not only did we have the added magic of various sets being decorated for the holiday season, there had also been a shuffle of exhibits in the first hall so there were new things to look at.
Christmas in the Great Hall complete with flaming Christmas puddings!
The Borgin & Burke display was something new to see. Full of all the things a budding dark wizard needs.
The final room of the tour is a huge scale model of Hogwarts itself. It’s just such a wonderful thing to see on any day (it’s one of the things that made me cry) but at Christmas? Well… I’ll show off those photos in another post. Yes I cried. Again.
