I love a good mushroom

There is a lot to love about the early stirrings of autumn, The cooler evenings, beautiful afternoon light, the gorgeous colours of the turning leaves… but me? I love it when the woods start to get a little damp on the ground and I get to hunt down huge crops of mushrooms and toadstools.

Today my handsome little furbaby Cooper turned five years old and, as usual, got his photo taken followed by a sweet treat. I do like to spoil him. The bow tie is new and for special occasions only. But I think it makes him look pretty dapper!

And then there was rain

As I sit and write this I can hear the thunder that has been raging on for a couple of hours now. The torrential downpour of rain has since slowed to a nice constant trickle and the air outside has lost some of its heaviness. The temperature dropped by about 8 degrees pretty quickly and now it’s actually quite refreshing to stand outside. Unfortunately inside the house is still a blistering hot box so trying to sleep this evening will…

The summer without rain

As we crawl towards mid-July I can honestly say that the summer heat is becoming stifling. We seemed to have moved past the endless bright hot days and into a sluggish heat that make it hard to breath and while I am grateful the day temperature has dropped a little, the humidity levels have crept slowly upwards making the nights more unbearable. Nil points for British homes and all our wonderful insulation. I know we do like to complain about…
